Pacific Controller – Financial Controllership Lead

About the role

Marsh is seeking a senior finance professional to lead the Financial Controllership function for the Mercer Pacific organisation. Based in Melbourne, this hybrid position requires at least three days a week in the office and reports to the Marsh Pacific Controller.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely financial results for local legal entities under US GAAP and local GAAP.
• Oversee preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual P&L and Balance Sheet reporting.
• Drive governance of balance‑sheet reconciliations, issue investigation and remediation.
• Provide accounting advice and maintain strong stakeholder engagement across Finance, Business, Audit, Tax, Treasury, Legal and Compliance.
• Support strategic initiatives such as M&A due diligence, integrations and special projects.
• Lead and develop the controllership team, fostering accountability and continuous learning.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years progressive financial controller experience, including leadership roles.
• Relevant accounting qualification (CA or CPA); MBA is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills to influence in a complex matrix environment.
• Experience with international, geographically distributed corporations.

Required skills

• US GAAP and local GAAP reporting.

• SOX‑aligned internal control execution.
• M&A accounting due diligence and integration experience.
