Oracle APEX Developer – Application Remediation (12‑Month Contract)

About the role

Lane8 Consulting is looking for an experienced Oracle APEX developer to lead a 12‑month remediation programme for a portfolio of business‑critical applications. The work focuses on upgrading existing APEX apps to version 24.2 and aligning ORDS to 23.3, ensuring they function identically after migration.

Key responsibilities

• Run the APEX Upgrade Advisor across the application portfolio and translate its output into a prioritized remediation plan.
• Migrate Tabular Forms to Interactive Grids, including editable columns, validations and row‑level processing.
• Move applications from legacy Theme 25 to the Universal Theme, updating region, column and button templates.
• Replace page‑level JavaScript and jQuery with APEX Dynamic Actions and the apex JavaScript API.
• Convert deprecated Classic Reports to Interactive Reports/Grids and update authentication/authorisation schemes for APEX 24.2.
• Migrate Flash‑based AnyChart visualisations to Oracle JET charts.
• Read and adjust PL/SQL and SQL code to ensure correct operation post‑upgrade.
• Validate ORDS REST modules and handlers after the ORDS 23.3 upgrade.
• Perform functional and regression testing in Development and Test environments and support UAT with business SMEs.
• Document remediation decisions and outcomes within the established change‑control process.

Required profile

• Advanced, hands‑on Oracle APEX development experience, including expert use of Page Designer.
• Proven track record migrating Tabular Forms to Interactive Grids.
• Experience running and acting on the APEX Upgrade Advisor.
• Strong knowledge of Universal Theme migration and Dynamic Actions.
• Ability to read and rewrite existing jQuery code using the apex JavaScript API.
• Experience updating APEX authentication/authorisation schemes and working with ORDS.
