Operations Manager - C-17

About the role

CAE is hiring an Operations Manager for its C-17 programme, within the Air Services Portfolio of CAE Defence & Security. You will lead the delivery of services across a portfolio of Defence sustainment and training programmes, acting as the main interface with customers and driving outcomes in safety, quality, schedule, cost and risk. The role works in a matrixed environment with maintenance, engineering and training teams, supports Australian Defence training capability and is based in Australia with hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Lead service delivery across Defence sustainment and training programmes so contractual outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
• Build and maintain customer relationships and act as a key point of contact for operational matters.
• Oversee training centre operations with maintenance, engineering and training teams.
• Manage operational governance including reporting, risk management, KPIs and customer deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with safety, security and quality requirements and promote a strong safety culture.
• Manage program budgets, revenue performance and operational planning.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in project, program and customer management.
• 3-5 years working with Defence customers, including Commonwealth of Australia and OEM stakeholders.
• Ability to travel and engage directly with customers and stakeholders.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship is a main requirement).
• Hybrid capacity across Defence training and operational sites.

Required skills

• Strong financial and commercial acumen.
• Risk management in line with ISO 31000 or equivalent.
• Preferred: complex budget and forecast management, knowledge of aircraft, simulator, engineering, training or technology programmes, and understanding of forecasting and operational planning.
