Operational Technology Technician

About the role

Thiess is seeking a motivated Operational Technology (OT) / Fleet Management System (FMS) Technician to join the Mount Pleasant operation. This residential position works a 4 × 12‑hour day‑shift roster, allowing you to return home each night while supporting critical OT infrastructure on site.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with installations on new machines and equipment.
• Respond to OT system breakdowns and outages.
• Carry out inspections and repairs during machine overhauls.
• Perform system upgrades as required.
• Monitor and maintain the site digital radio network.
• Monitor and maintain solar and battery storage management systems.
• Monitor and maintain the site wireless network.
• Monitor and maintain GPS systems for mobile plant.
• Assist IT system owners as needed.
• Monitor and maintain site camera systems.
• Maintain documentation for all OT systems.
• Collaborate with the Planning team to optimise resource use.
• Build relationships with equipment OEMs such as Ivolve, CAT and Liebherr.

Required profile

• Trade qualification in Electrical with experience in OT and an Open Cabling licence, or equivalent qualification in Auto Electrical or Electronics & Communications with an Open Cabling licence.
• Strong background in FMS and networking systems.
• Knowledge of fleet management platforms (e.g., Ivolve Mine 4D, Modular, Hexagon).
• Experience with terrain drill profiling, high‑precision GPS (Trimble), video‑camera monitoring, and both cabled and wireless networks (Ubiquiti, Cambium, Mesh).
• Familiarity with digital radio infrastructure (DAMM, Sepura).
