Operational Pharmacist

About the role

The Operational Pharmacist will join the Pharmacy Operations team at Alfred Hospital, providing essential pharmacy services across multiple campuses. You will work in both inpatient and outpatient settings, supporting aseptic compounding, manufacturing, and clinical trial activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pharmacy services in inpatient, discharge and outpatient dispensaries.
• Perform aseptic compounding and manufacturing tasks.
• Support the medical day unit and off‑site dispensaries at Caulfield, Sandringham and Melbourne Sexual Health.
• Utilise the electronic medicine management system (Cerner) and integrated dispensing tools (iPharmacy, Omnicell).
• Contribute to safe and financially responsible medicine management.

• Patient‑centred approach to care.
• Strong clinical judgement, problem‑solving and risk‑assessment abilities.
• Excellent communication, time‑management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple sites.

Required skills

• Cerner electronic medical record system.
• iPharmacy dispensing system.
• Omnicell automated medication storage.
• Pharmacy operations in a hospital environment.
