Nurse Unit Manager - Palliative Care

About the role

The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) Level 2 provides strategic, clinical and operational leadership for the Palliative Care Unit (PCU), ensuring safe, high-quality, evidence-based and person-centred care. The PCU NUM is accountable for the management, coordination and continuous improvement of nursing and multidisciplinary services, covering clinical care, patient safety, workforce capability and service performance. This is a permanent full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support nursing and support staff in delivering compassionate, responsive palliative care, fostering collaboration, professional accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Manage human, financial and physical resources and monitor operational and clinical performance.
• Ensure compliance with professional, legislative, accreditation and clinical governance requirements.

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration.
• Recent clinical experience in an acute care and/or hospital setting.
• Ability to work unsupervised, proficiently and in an organised way during periods of high demand.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
