Networks Technical Trainee (Telecom Technician Traineeship)

About the role

Telstra is offering a 2-year Telecommunications Technician Traineeship for motivated, technically minded people who want a hands-on career. Trainees learn from experienced technicians while building the skills to construct, operate and maintain telecommunications equipment and infrastructure, combining structured training with real-world experience and working toward nationally recognised qualifications. The program starts in February 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Construct, operate and maintain telecommunications equipment and infrastructure
• Support installation, maintenance, testing and fault-finding activities
• Work alongside experienced technicians and mentors in the field
• Build understanding of telecommunications networks and equipment
• Gain exposure to Transmission, Data & IP, Core, Radio and Mobiles technologies

Required profile

• Genuine interest in telecommunications and technology
• Hands-on, technically minded approach and positive attitude
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork
• Current driver's licence and ability to meet the role's inherent requirements, including pre-employment checks
