Network Operations Manager

About the role

The Network Operations Manager joins the Rail Operations’ Network Operations team to lead day‑to‑day management of the train network. This senior position ensures safe, efficient service delivery, proactive incident handling and coordination across all operational branches.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight to ROC Control Room Floor leaders and staff, managing daily network operations.
• Monitor network performance continuously and intervene proactively to support effective train and network decisions.
• Authorise alternative train plans, approve track possessions and coordinate recovery actions.
• Collaborate with Transport‑wide agency leaders to integrate service delivery and enhance network resilience.

Required profile

• Well‑organised, safety‑focused leader with experience managing large, cross‑functional teams.
• Proven ability to influence outcomes, resolve complex situations and make timely decisions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable working with groups not directly reporting to you.
• Experience in a dynamic network operations environment.

Required skills

• Network Controller Certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
• Qualified Australian Inter‑Service Incident Management Systems (AIIMS) Controller (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
