Neonatal Postnatal Support Nurse

About the role

Werribee Mercy Hospital has received funding from the Department of Health to pilot a Neonatal and Postnatal Support Nurse program, employing nurses on the maternity ward. The role is supernumerary to the midwifery roster and complements established midwifery care, supporting neonates who need additional clinical care. It is open to Registered Nurses interested in neonatal care or a future career in midwifery, and is coordinated by SaferCare Victoria with the Department of Health and the ANMF.

Required profile

• Minimum of one year's experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience in a maternity, maternal and child health, women's health, neonatal, paediatrics or postoperative environment, or relevant postgraduate qualifications (essential).
• An interest in pursuing postgraduate study in midwifery, neonatal nursing, women's health or a related field (desirable).
• Membership of a nursing professional body (desirable).
• Current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check, or in the process of obtaining them.
• Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccinations consistent with public health orders.
