Music Teacher and Concert Band Conductor

About the role

St Aloysius' College is seeking an enthusiastic Music Teacher and Concert Band Conductor to join its full‑time staff from Term I 2027. The role combines classroom teaching with leading the college’s vibrant co‑curricular music program.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Music to secondary students (Years 7‑12) across a range of abilities.
• Conduct the Concert Band and other instrumental ensembles.
• Support coordination of the co‑curricular music program in partnership with the Head of Music (Performance).
• Collaborate with the Director of Music and other staff to develop curriculum and program initiatives.
• Participate in pastoral and co‑curricular activities to enrich student life.

Required profile

• Commitment to the Catholic Jesuit ethos of the college.
• Relevant secondary teaching qualifications and eligibility to teach under NESA requirements.
• Demonstrated experience teaching Music to Years 7‑12 or a strong willingness to do so.
• Outstanding performance proficiency on at least one instrument.
• Proven excellence in concert band and ensemble conducting.
• Collaborative planning experience and ability to apply contemporary pedagogy, including differentiation.
• High level of organisation, time‑management and willingness to obtain a Working With Children Clearance.
