Multimedia Journalist – State Politics

About the role

Nine, Australia's largest locally owned media company, is hiring a Multimedia Journalist for its 9News Adelaide team, based in Adelaide CBD. The journalist specialises in state politics and delivers agenda-setting exclusives for Australia's most-watched news service, reporting directly to the News Director. Coverage spans television broadcast, digital and social platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, research and break exclusive stories that set the daily South Australian news agenda.
• Build and maintain a trusted network of high-level contacts across all sides of politics.
• Produce high-quality television news reports while filing digital-first copy and social assets.
• Deliver calm, authoritative and accurate live crosses from the field and in the studio.
• Collaborate with newsroom colleagues under tight deadlines to maintain top production standards.
• Represent the 9News Adelaide brand professionally on-air and across digital platforms.

Required profile

• Degree in Journalism or equivalent practical industry experience.
• Demonstrated experience reporting in a fast-paced television newsroom.
• Proven track record of reporting and cultivating high-level contacts to deliver exclusive stories.
• Sound knowledge of South Australia's parliament, media law, legal compliance and journalistic ethics.
• Right to lawfully work and live in Australia.

Required skills

• Broadcast presentation skills and critical thinking during live breaking news.
• Digital publishing and social media storytelling alongside television production.
• Video editing is an advantage.
