Mining Technical Trainer (FIFO)

About the role

Rio Tinto is recruiting Technical Trainers to support the growth of its Pilbara Operations, including Yandi. The team covers new starter onboarding, mobile and fixed plant capability uplift, VOC assessments, technical training delivery and autonomous haulage system (AHS) training with Komatsu FrontRunner and CAT MineStar. Roles are permanent, full-time FIFO from Perth and other regional hubs on 8/6 day-shift-only rosters.

Key responsibilities

• Train and assess frontline workers through one-on-one, infield, classroom or group delivery
• Attend shift start meetings with operational teams and travel between villages and sites by onsite buses
• Work with on-job trainers to deliver in-field training according to the weekly schedule
• Train multi-skilled operators and support the onboarding of new starters

Required profile

• Strong alignment with Rio Tinto's core values of care, courage and curiosity
• Excellent communication skills and effective time management
• Hands-on mining experience with heavy mobile equipment (track dozers, excavators and shovels, loaders, graders, water carts and haul trucks)
• Familiarity with Komatsu FrontRunner or CAT MineStar is advantageous but not essential
• An On Job Trainer qualification or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is beneficial
