Mine Trades Technician: Mechanical Fitter - Development

About the role

Grosvenor Mine, an underground steelmaking coal mine in Moranbah, is building its team ahead of a planned return to longwall production by Q4 2027. As a Mine Trades Technician (Mechanical Fitter), you will support the safe and reliable operation of underground coal mining equipment through planned and breakdown maintenance, working alongside experienced tradespeople to build fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground coal mining equipment, including conveyors, pumps, diesel equipment and fixed plant
• Develop fault-finding and diagnostic capability with experienced tradespeople
• Assist with mechanical installations, change-outs and rebuilds in an underground environment
• Interpret maintenance instructions, SAP work orders, drawings and OEM manuals
• Complete all work in line with site safety, statutory and environmental requirements
• Identify equipment defects and improvement opportunities, and complete maintenance documentation and defect reports
• Take part in toolbox talks, pre-starts and continuous improvement initiatives

Required profile

• Certificate III in Engineering: Mechanical or equivalent
• Current Standard 11 (Surface & Underground)
• Proven mechanical maintenance experience in an underground coal mine
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to site standards
• Eagerness to learn and develop technical skills
