Mental Health Team Leader

About the role

Queensland Corrective Services is recruiting Mental Health Team Leaders for positions based at Lotus Glen Correctional Centre in Mareeba, about 85 km from Cairns. The centre holds both high and low security prisoners and works with a diverse client group, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from regional and remote areas. The role provides clinical leadership, supervision and operational management within a multidisciplinary team delivering mental health services in a correctional setting.

Key responsibilities

• Clinical leadership: provide high-level clinical leadership and consultation across the team, deliver complex assessment, intervention and person-centred care while maintaining a senior-level caseload, and coordinate referrals, crisis management, clinical reviews and transition planning.
• Meetings and collaboration: chair multidisciplinary meetings, including those on suicide risk assessment and complex case management, and work with external organisations, operational teams and specialist units.
• Service improvement: identify and lead opportunities for service improvement and quality enhancement.
• Leadership: lead recruitment, onboarding, coaching, performance issues, fatigue and workload monitoring, and develop succession plans; enhance team capability through training, education and policy and guideline development.
• Quality and engagement: observe and give feedback on clinical practice, and take part in stakeholder engagement and operational discussions.

What we offer

• Hours Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, 72.5 hours per fortnight, with flexible arrangements including part-time hours considered.
