Mental Health Clinician (Psychologist, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist)

About the role

Queensland Corrective Services is recruiting a Mental Health Clinician to work within a multidisciplinary team delivering mental health services in a correctional environment. The position is based at Lotus Glen Correctional Centre in Mareeba, about an hour from Cairns, which houses both high and low security prisoners and works with a diverse client base including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct risk, functional and discipline-specific assessments to identify appropriate treatment and support strategies.
• Advise on the safe management of adults at heightened risk of suicide or self-harm, including acute or chronic risk.
• Provide psychoeducation on mental health conditions, symptoms and treatment options.
• Deliver individual or group-based skill-building interventions focused on coping skills and resilience.
• Manage a caseload.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Psychology with APHRA registration or eligibility, or in Occupational Therapy with APHRA registration or eligibility, or in Social Work with AASW membership or eligibility.
• C Class driver's licence.
