Mental Health Nurse – Immigration Detention Centre

About the role

Join a multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality, person‑centred mental health care at the Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre, located 90 km north‑east of Perth. You will provide comprehensive assessments, develop and evaluate care plans, and support detainees with substance‑use challenges in a safe, trauma‑informed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct health assessments, immunisations, blood collection and wound care.
• Create, implement and review individual care plans for mental health and wellbeing.
• Administer medication and provide health education to detainees.
• Collaborate with nurses, GPs and allied health professionals to ensure coordinated care.

Required profile

• AHPRA‑registered General Nurse (unrestricted) with at least five years of clinical experience, including mental health in an operational setting.
• Post‑graduate qualification in mental health (AQF‑recognised).
• Strong prioritisation, critical thinking and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
