Mental Health Graduate Nurse (2 Positions)

About the role

St Vincent's Health is offering two graduate positions in its Mental Health Graduate Nurse Program at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, in the heart of Fitzroy. It is a 12-month, part-time (0.8 FTE) program with flexible start dates between November 2026 and January 2027, with ongoing training and development and a supportive team. The program includes supported succession planning.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care under the guidance of the Graduate Nurse Program Coordinators, Practice Development Nurses, Clinical Support Nurses, Nurse Unit Managers and nursing teams.
• Manage the physical and emotional well-being of patients and administer medication safely according to hospital policy.
• Observe, report and document nursing findings and adjust patient care accordingly.
• Liaise with patients, families, medical and allied health professionals, and help with admission, assessment, care planning and discharge.
• Take part in professional development, including training and study days, and complete the academic requirements of the program.
• Work in a multidisciplinary team to uphold patient rights, challenge stigma and discrimination and support recovery.

Required profile

• Completing a Bachelor of Nursing in 2025/26 and eligible for Grade 2 Registered Nurse registration in 2026/27.
• Current AHPRA registration.
• A valid nationally coordinated criminal history check, or willingness to obtain one.
• Two referees, one of whom must be a Clinical Teacher, Preceptor or senior nurse.
