Medical Receptionist - Cardiology Practice Support

About the role

Advara HeartCare, the largest cardiology provider in Australia with more than 90 centres and 100 doctors, is looking for a Medical Receptionist in St Leonards. The role supports patients with cardiovascular conditions by handling front-desk administration, appointments and patient records.

Key responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and assist patients with general enquiries
• Greet patients and manage front desk reception
• Book, reschedule and confirm appointments
• Manage emails, faxes and incoming correspondence, and process patient letters
• Scan, upload and file documents into patient records, and follow up on outstanding referrals and reports
• Liaise with doctors, nurses, GPs and other healthcare providers
• Assist with billing, payments and Medicare-related enquiries
• Maintain accurate patient records, keep the reception area organised and schedule hospital procedure bookings
• Provide general administrative support to the practice team and handle patient information confidentially

Required profile

• Previous experience in a medical reception or administrative role, ideally in a cardiology practice
• Strong multitasking and organisational skills in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Compassionate, professional demeanour and confidentiality awareness
• Nice to have: knowledge of medical terminology, patient confidentiality regulations, health track software, and a proactive, collaborative approach

Required skills

• Proficiency in medical billing and invoicing
• Use of medical software
