Manager, Data Analysis Surgical Outcome Unit

About the role

The Data Analysis & Surgical Outcomes (DASO) Unit Manager provides strategic leadership to a skilled team within the Division of Surgery & Anaesthesia at Royal North Shore Hospital, driving innovation and excellence in surgical care.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all data managers across the division, both indirect and direct reports.
• Develop and maintain long‑term databases and information systems focused on patient outcomes, service operations, and research.
• Collaborate with Clinical Governance, NSLHD Performance Unit and Health Information Services to improve patient outcomes.
• Work with department heads, DoSA executive and the SERT Institute to build sustainable data infrastructure.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications or experience in health information management, health informatics, biostatistics, clinical coding or related fields.
• Advanced skills in data extraction, reporting and analysis within health systems.
• Proven managerial experience, including training and supervising staff.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and capacity to manage complex, competing priorities.
• Excellent oral and written communication for reporting, presentations and stakeholder negotiation.
