Medical Practitioner – Remote Medicine (Port Hedland)

About the role

The Royal Flying Doctor Service WA is seeking a qualified Medical Practitioner to join its Remote Medicine team in Port Hedland. You will provide emergency medical advice, telehealth support and participate in aeromedical retrieval missions across the Pilbara region.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver emergency medical advice and telehealth consultations to remote clinicians and patients.
• Participate in aeromedical retrieval flights, caring for critically ill or injured patients.
• Coordinate clinical care across remote sites, hospitals and RFDS teams.
• Engage in continuing medical education, clinical governance and quality improvement activities.

Required profile

• Registered (or eligible for registration) with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.
• Broad postgraduate experience, preferably in emergency medicine, anaesthetics, ICU, acute paediatrics or rural generalist practice.
• Ability to independently manage critically ill or injured patients.
• Strong communication, teamwork and clinical judgement in remote environments.

Required skills

• Critical care procedural skills.
• Telehealth delivery.
• Aeromedical retrieval experience (highly regarded but not essential).
