Medical Officer – Defence Force Recruiting

About the role

Join the ACT Health Centre as a Medical Officer supporting Defence Force recruitment. You will provide primary care and occupational health assessments for Australian Defence Force personnel and applicants.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality primary care and fitness‑for‑duty assessments in an Occupational Medicine environment.
• Support the Chief Medical Officer in screening health suitability of ADF applicants.
• Provide written and verbal advice to the Defence Force Recruiting Centre on applicant health.
• Make decisions on health suitability and prepare case reviews, including responses to audits and complaints.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary clinical team focused on patient wellness.

Required profile

• Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner (FRACGP, FACRRM or vocational registration).
• Minimum two years GP experience in the last five years.
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009) and Australian citizenship (baseline security clearance).
• Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient‑centred care.

Required skills

• Clinical judgement for health suitability assessments.
• Experience in occupational health and injury management.
