Medical Head, Governance, Evidence & Operations

About the role

Novartis is seeking a Medical Head, Governance, Evidence and Operations to join its Medical Leadership Team in North Sydney. The role suits an emerging or established medical leader who wants to broaden experience across medical governance, evidence generation, operations and leadership, and who reports to the Chief Medical Officer. It involves leading the Medical Governance, Evidence and Operations agenda with strong scientific standards, robust governance and operational discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute as a member of the country Medical Leadership Team, shaping the medical strategy in line with business and patient priorities.
• Develop and execute operational medical plans that support the broader medical and franchise strategies.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration across Medical, Commercial, Global and other key internal teams.
• Provide leadership across governance, evidence generation, medical operations and medical excellence activities.
• Partner with senior leaders and external stakeholders on medical product plans, clinical development, scientific communications and medical expert engagement.
• Maintain and strengthen standards of medical and scientific excellence across the function.
• Coach, support and develop team members, and model company values and a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Experience in Medical Affairs, medical governance, evidence generation, medical operations or a related medical leadership role; may already be in a leadership role or be an emerging leader.
• Strong scientific and medical acumen, able to turn strategy into operational plans.
• Collaborative leadership style, growth mindset and ability to influence across functions and senior stakeholders.
• Understanding of compliance, ethics, governance and medical excellence standards.
• Ability to work in a matrix environment across country, regional and global teams.
