Media and Communications Consultant

About the role

The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DMTI) is seeking a Media and Communications Consultant to support strategic communications, media, and marketing activities across the department. Based in Perth, this Level 5 position sits within the Strategic Communications and Engagement branch of the Office of the Director General.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing communications and media strategies for key projects and campaigns, particularly within the Driver and Vehicle Services directorate.
• Prepare and edit content for a variety of channels, ensuring messages are clear and audience‑appropriate.
• Support responses to media enquiries and monitor media coverage to identify proactive opportunities.
• Collaborate with Senior Communications Consultants and the Senior Media Advisor to deliver consistent messaging.
• Identify media opportunities, support issues management, and maintain momentum on communication initiatives.

Required profile

• Highly motivated and creative communications professional.
• Strong ability to translate complex information into engaging content.
• Experience supporting communications, media, and marketing plans for projects or campaigns.
• Excellent writing and editing skills, adaptable to different audiences and channels.
• Collaborative team player with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
