About the role
BlueScope is seeking a Mechanical Shift Fitter to join the Slabmaking team at its Port Kembla manufacturing facility. This hands‑on position works a 4‑on, 4‑off rotating roster of 12‑hour day and night shifts, supporting critical steel‑making assets.
Key responsibilities
- Isolate equipment and perform maintenance and repairs on mechanical plant.
- Inspect quality‑critical equipment, fault‑find and resolve non‑conformances.
- Provide feedback on equipment performance and suggest continuous‑improvement strategies.
- Act as the first point of call for mechanical issues across the Slabmaking department.
Required profile
- Mechanical fitting or machining trade qualification.
- Experience working in a maintenance function within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
