Mechanical Maintenance Officer

About the role

BlueScope is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Officer for its Hot Strip Mill team at the Port Kembla manufacturing facility. The role focuses on maintaining and developing down coiler and coil handling equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable continuous operations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day plant maintenance activities, including planning, organising, execution and review.
• Coordinate and provide technical support to maintenance resources within the section.
• Coach, mentor and develop maintenance personnel in manufacturing excellence, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Participate in cost‑reduction and capital‑upgrade projects.
• Respond to mechanical availability and reliability issues as they arise.

Required profile

• Mechanical trade qualification or tertiary education.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance within a similar industry, focusing on defect elimination and equipment reliability.
• Commitment to safety and wellbeing of self and others.
• Experience coordinating maintenance and collaborating with multiple internal and external customers.
