Mechanical Fitter – Water Infrastructure

About the role

Service Stream's Utilities division is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter for a permanent, full-time position in Brisbane. The role covers water and wastewater infrastructure, supporting the maintenance, repair and improvement of assets that keep essential services running safely and efficiently. The work includes preventative maintenance, breakdown response, equipment installation, commissioning and minor project work.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative, corrective and reactive maintenance on water and wastewater treatment assets
• Troubleshoot and fault-find mechanical equipment and systems
• Carry out repairs, installations, commissioning and decommissioning
• Support minor capital and improvement projects
• Work with engineers, operators and maintenance teams to improve asset reliability
• Help with work planning, scoping and estimating
• Mentor apprentices and share knowledge with the team
• Build relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
• Promote a positive safety culture and follow company procedures

Required profile

• Trade qualification in a relevant mechanical discipline
• Current unrestricted driver's licence
• Experience in the water industry or a similar industrial environment
• Strong fault-finding and maintenance experience on mechanical plant and equipment
• Proactive attitude and commitment to safety
• Willingness to undertake further training and development
• Highly regarded: experience on wastewater treatment plants and a High Risk Work Licence
