Mechanical Fitter – Northern Territory

About the role

McMahon Services is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its Darwin team on a permanent basis. You will carry out routine planned maintenance, inspections and fault‑finding on a variety of fixed plant and marine assets, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and operational.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and preventative maintenance on large winches, cables, gearboxes, motor couplings and other fixed plant equipment.
• Inspect, maintain and document marine infrastructure such as wharves, jetties, gangways, fender systems and mooring equipment.
• Undertake mechanical fault‑finding, report maintenance requirements and complete all required documentation.
• Work safely in accordance with JSEA/SWMS, permit‑to‑work and Defence/maritime security procedures.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent Mechanical Fitter qualification.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining fixed plant, marine infrastructure or similar industrial assets.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, basic understanding of hydraulic systems and commitment to safe work practices.
• Australian citizenship with ability to obtain a Defence Common Access Card and Maritime Security Identification Card.
