Mechanical Fitter

About the role

Karara Mining Limited, a joint venture between Ansteel Group and Gindalbie Metals, is looking for a Mechanical Fitter for a residential role in Geraldton. The roster is a day-shift only schedule of 8 days on and 6 days off, with 7 days on and 7 days off also mentioned. Overseas applicants are not accepted, and no visa sponsorship is available.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out SAP work tasks covering scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
• Raise and document maintenance notifications for future corrective and preventive tasks, and record post-task comments on improvement opportunities
• Close work orders once tasks are completed
• Work to manufacturer specifications and quality standards
• Plan and prioritise daily workloads to meet deadlines, and inspect and scope job requirements
• Identify, implement and communicate process improvements
• Conduct risk assessments before maintenance, identify hazards, mitigate risks and complete safety documentation
• Collaborate with the planning team to develop maintenance scopes that improve equipment availability and reduce downtime

Required profile

• Mechanical trade qualification
• WA 'C' class driver's licence
• Demonstrated post-trade experience in mining or heavy industry within a process plant environment
• National police clearance is required to obtain MSIC

Required skills

• Tickets: Dogging (DG), Basic Rigging (RB), Elevated Work Platform (WP)
• Confined space entry and working at heights
• Strong understanding of scheduled maintenance systems and work order processes
• Ability to solve problems through investigation and review, and to plan work according to predicted operational requirements
• Understanding of generic process plant policies, procedures, risk assessment and management systems
