Residential Boilermaker

About the role

Karara Mining Limited, a joint venture between Ansteel Group and Gindalbie Metals, is looking for a boilermaker for a residential role at its mining operation near Geraldton, Western Australia. The position is day-shift only, on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster, and is open to people living in the Geraldton area or willing to relocate at their own cost. No visa sponsorship is available.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out SAP work tasks including scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
• Create maintenance notifications for future, corrective and preventative work
• Add comments to work orders after completion with improvement suggestions
• Close work orders in SAP once tasks are done
• Perform work to manufacturer standards and quality requirements
• Identify and communicate improvement opportunities across all work areas
• Prioritise and plan daily workloads to meet deadlines
• Inspect and scope jobs, review plans and identify the tools needed for safe completion
• Conduct risk assessments and complete safety documentation before maintenance
• Support the planning team in developing maintenance scopes to improve equipment availability and reduce downtime

Required profile

• Trade qualification in fabrication (boilermaking/welding) or equivalent
• Demonstrated post-trade experience in mining or heavy industry within a process plant environment
• WA 'C' class driver's licence
• Residing in the Geraldton area or prepared to relocate at own cost
• National police clearance required to obtain MSIC

Required skills

• Tickets: Dogging (DG), Basic Rigging (RB), Elevated Work Platform (WP)
• Confined space entry and working at heights
• Strong understanding of scheduled maintenance systems and work order processes
• Ability to solve problems through investigation and review, and to plan work to predicted operational needs
• Understanding of process plant policies, procedures, risk assessment and management systems
