Mechanical Engineering Intern - Perth

About the role

A professional engineering organisation in Perth is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 12-week, part-time, self-funded internship of 3 days per week. It suits Mechanical Engineering students or recent graduates who want practical Australian industry experience in mechanical design, engineering projects, technical documentation and engineering operations. International students are welcome.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with mechanical design and engineering projects
• Support the preparation of technical drawings and specifications
• Assist with CAD modelling and design modifications
• Conduct engineering calculations and technical research
• Support equipment inspections, testing and maintenance activities
• Assist with project planning and technical documentation
• Collaborate with engineers on engineering solutions
• Gain exposure to Australian engineering standards and workplace safety procedures

Required profile

• Currently studying or recently completed Mechanical Engineering or a related qualification
• Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Strong attention to detail and technical accuracy
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to learn and develop practical engineering skills
• Valid visa allowing internship participation; previous engineering experience is advantageous but not essential

Required skills

• Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor or similar CAD software
• Technical drawing and engineering documentation
