Mechanical Engineer – Automotive & 4WD Products

About the role

Join STEDI’s Truganina head office as a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer focused on automotive and 4WD accessories. You will work closely with the Head of Merchandise to take products from concept through to production, shaping the future of the company’s portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and development of innovative lighting and accessory products, creating detailed 3D CAD models, sheet‑metal components and vehicle integration systems.
• Utilise 3D scanning to capture vehicle geometries and convert scan data into production‑ready designs.
• Prepare engineering documentation, including manufacturing drawings, BOMs, installation guides and technical specifications.
• Develop products for laser cutting, CNC machining, press‑braking and other fabrication processes.
• Build prototypes, conduct testing, validate performance and incorporate field feedback.
• Collaborate with product development, manufacturing and marketing teams to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Practical, solutions‑focused mindset with hands‑on workshop experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic automotive electrical knowledge.
• Commitment to workplace safety and engineering best practices.

Required skills

• 3D CAD modelling (including sheet‑metal design).
• 3D scanning technology and data conversion.
• Creation of manufacturing drawings for laser cutting and press‑brake operations.
• Experience with CNC machining, laser cutting and fabrication processes.
• Prototype building, testing and product validation.
