Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are an Australian specialist manufacturer of custom conveyor systems and material handling solutions. As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be involved from concept through to manufacturing, installation and commissioning, creating practical solutions that directly impact our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design custom conveyor systems and material handling equipment based on client requirements.
• Create 2D and 3D CAD models, manufacturing and assembly drawings, and layout plans.
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and complete engineering documentation.
• Collaborate with customers, sales, project managers and workshop staff to develop cost‑effective solutions.
• Assist with component selection, design improvements and provide engineering support.
• Support manufacturing and installation teams with technical queries.
• Participate in site visits, measurements and commissioning activities.
• Maintain drawing revisions and project documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and new product development.
• Work additional hours when required to meet project deadlines.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in conveyor systems, material handling equipment, industrial machinery or mechanical design is highly regarded.
• Strong problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and good communication skills.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Inventor.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
