Mechanical Design Engineer – Energy Infrastructure

About the role

APA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Engineering Design team in Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth. You will contribute to the delivery of mechanical and piping solutions for brownfield EPC projects that support critical energy and infrastructure assets across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Develop concept and detailed mechanical and piping designs aligned with project objectives and operational requirements.
• Prepare engineering deliverables such as calculations, datasheets, specifications, technical reports, bid evaluations and cost estimates.
• Support compliance with Australian and international standards, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers, designers, contractors and operations teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, technical assurance activities and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in mechanical and piping engineering within oil & gas, energy, infrastructure or similar industrial environments.
• Understanding of mechanical design principles, piping systems and pipeline engineering practices.
• Familiarity with relevant Australian and international standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across teams.
