Material and Operations Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Material and Operations Specialist to support the end‑to‑end refurbishment and remanufacturing of company‑owned locomotive assemblies. Based in our Perth CBD office, you will act as the bridge between engineering, site service teams and material planning specialists, ensuring third‑party providers deliver quality‑assured rebuilds in line with OEM standards.

Key responsibilities

• Issue material daily through the ERP system, monitor vendor usage and resolve discrepancies.
• Support vendor management activities, including work‑in‑process (WIP) reviews, logistics coordination, forecast handling and material supply.
• Review vendor quotations for overhaul goods, identify and resolve scope discrepancies.
• Assist Material Specialists with inventory ordering, cycle counting and inventory reviews to drive efficiency.
• Liaise with third‑party logistics and inventory teams to maintain high inventory accuracy at 3PL locations.
• Participate in WIP review meetings, lead when required and monitor vendor turnaround times for continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Hands‑on problem solver with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Ability to cultivate a high‑performance team culture.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate across engineering, service and vendor teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems for material issuance and tracking.
• Inventory management, including cycle counting and stock accuracy.
• Vendor management and logistics coordination.
