Master Control Operator

About the role

Nine, Australia's largest locally owned media company, is looking for a Master Control Operator for its Network Control team. You will ensure the seamless transmission of live video and audio signals across studios, outside broadcasts and breaking news events, working with internal departments to deliver high-quality broadcast service. The role is shift-based, covering a 24/7, 365-day rotating roster including nights and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Operate broadcast equipment and manage complex signal routing in live environments.
• Support internal and external studio productions and outside broadcasts.
• Execute scheduled and ad hoc transmission bookings accurately and efficiently.
• Deliver error-free vision and audio signals using precision monitoring equipment.
• Respond quickly to breaking news stories and major live sporting events.
• Work in a shift-based, multi-disciplinary team on a rotating roster.

Required profile

• Operational experience in a technical, media or broadcast environment.
• Proven ability to stay focused and calm under live broadcast pressure.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative team approach.
• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field are an advantage, but adjacent qualifications and experience will be considered.
• You must already have the right to lawfully work and live in Australia.

Required skills

• Strong computer literacy and confidence with complex technical systems.
• Familiarity with live production workflows and broadcast signal routing.
• Working knowledge of television transmission processes and signal measurement tools.
