Manufacturing Associate

About the role

As a Manufacturing Associate at Moderna’s Melbourne facility you will work in a highly automated, cGMP‑regulated environment producing mRNA vaccines. The role offers end‑to‑end exposure across product manufacturing, packaging and continuous‑improvement activities, with rotating shift patterns to support 24/7 operations.

Key responsibilities

• Execute manufacturing operations following cGMP, SOPs and approved documentation while maintaining strict safety and gowning procedures.
• Operate and troubleshoot sophisticated production equipment, perform basic maintenance (lubrication, mechanical checks, filter changes) and resolve routine process or digital issues.
• Participate in incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and CAPA activities, collaborating with Quality Assurance to close documentation for commercial batches.
• Apply performance tools to meet operational KPIs and contribute to continuous‑improvement projects across the facility.

Required profile

• Early‑career professional with a degree or qualification in Science, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering or a related field.
• Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability and willingness to work across multiple manufacturing stages and rotating shift schedules.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, attention to detail and ability to collaborate in a cross‑functional matrix environment.

Required skills

• Production equipment operation with high technical precision.
• Basic equipment maintenance (lubrication, mechanical checks, filter changes).
• Proficiency with digital systems and willingness to engage with emerging tools such as generative AI for problem‑solving.
• Experience or knowledge of aseptic techniques, visual inspection and PFS processes.
