Manager Tax Accounting – Fixed term up to 12 months

About the role

Transport for NSW is seeking a Manager Tax Accounting to lead its tax accounting function on a fixed‑term basis. You will oversee GST, payroll tax, fringe benefits tax, fuel tax credits and taxable payments reporting for a large government organisation, ensuring compliance and timely lodgements. This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on problem solving in a high‑volume environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of GST, payroll tax, fringe benefits tax, fuel tax credits and taxable payments reporting.
• Ensure accurate, timely and compliant tax lodgements across the organisation.
• Partner with Group Finance and business stakeholders to align tax processes.
• Drive continuous improvement of tax service delivery, processes and systems.
• Develop and mentor a high‑performing tax accounting team.
• Maintain regular in‑person collaboration, working from the Burwood office three days per week.

Required profile

• Extensive tax accounting experience in large, complex organisations, preferably government.
• Proven leadership experience managing compliance obligations and delivering service improvements.
• Qualified CPA, CA or Master of Taxation.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to navigate complex environments.
