Manager Resource Engineering – Copper Portfolio

About the role

The Manager Resource Engineering will provide senior leadership to resource engineering teams, translating corporate objectives into actionable plans for Copper South Australia's growth. This role reports to the General Manager Planning, Technical and Environment and works closely with asset teams to deliver safe, sustainable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead integration of resource engineering capability across the medium‑term growth agenda.
• Apply engineering concepts, governance and strategic thinking to surface and subsurface system design and planning.
• Support evidence‑based decision making, balancing opportunities, priorities, resources and long‑term business objectives.
• Identify, assess and manage risk within BHP’s risk management framework.
• Maintain strong operational interface with Copper SA assets to ensure safe and productive delivery.
• Lead change initiatives and strengthen organisational capability through coaching and mentoring.

Required profile

• Senior technical and people leader with broad knowledge of the mining value chain.
• Demonstrated ability to work in large, complex, matrixed organisations.
• Strong commercial awareness linking engineering decisions to operational performance and long‑term value.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering qualification.
• Underground mining experience and strong knowledge of the technical mining value chain.
• Risk management and integration across technical disciplines.
