Manager Resource Engineering

About the role

The Manager Resource Engineering leads the technical function that shapes the future value of Copper SA’s resource portfolio, integrating engineering capability to support medium‑term growth. Reporting to the General Manager Planning, Technical and Environment, you will translate long‑term business objectives into actionable plans and support evidence‑based decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership to Resource Engineering teams, ensuring safe and effective planning and development of resources and infrastructure.
• Integrate across functions, operations and technical disciplines to address complex challenges and align assets.
• Apply engineering concepts and governance across resource development, surface and subsurface system design.
• Support strategic decision‑making by balancing opportunities, priorities, resources and long‑term objectives.
• Identify, assess and manage risk within BHP’s risk management framework.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining, Geotechnical or Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Underground mining experience with strong knowledge of the technical mining value chain.
• Proven leadership experience, including building team capability through coaching and mentoring.
• Strong integration skills to connect technical disciplines, functions and operations.
• Excellent commercial awareness and ability to make strategic decisions.
