Manager, Research Operations

About the role

Monash University's Faculty of Information Technology is looking for a strategic and experienced Research Operations Manager at the Clayton campus. Reporting to the Group Manager (Research & Graduate Research), you will lead the operations function across the research portfolio, working with the Deputy Dean (Research), Associate Dean (Graduate Research) and other senior staff on strategy, governance and the delivery of research and funding activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement efficient, compliant and scalable systems, processes and resources for research support.
• Improve and streamline research operations, with emphasis on administration, automation and service efficiency.
• Lead post-award processes and ensure robust compliance, risk management and quality assurance frameworks.
• Oversee strategic budget planning for the research portfolio, managing a budget of up to $5 million and ensuring accurate forecasting and resource allocation.

Required profile

• Significant experience in research or academic operations within a large, complex organisation.
• Strong leadership, business process and research management capabilities.
• Able to manage systems, lead teams and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Data-driven approach and strategic mindset.

What we offer

• Full-time, 6-month fixed-term position.
• Remuneration of $124,343 - $137,251 per year (HEW Level 08) plus 17% employer superannuation.
