Maintenance Technician – Plant Mechanic (Mining)

About the role

Bengalla Mining Company is seeking an experienced Plant Mechanic to join its Maintenance Team at the Bengalla open‑cut coal mine near Muswellbrook. The role involves both planned and reactive maintenance of a diverse fleet of heavy equipment, ensuring high availability and safe operation.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and inspect plant and equipment, including P&H 9020 dragline, Liebherr and Hitachi excavators, and Hitachi and Komatsu haul trucks.
• Perform maintenance tasks in workshop and field environments while adhering to safety and environmental procedures.
• Capture machine data accurately and liaise with planning, engineering, and production stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance strategies and fleet reliability.
• Work a lifestyle roster of 12.5‑hour shifts, providing coverage for breakdown and mobile maintenance teams.

Required profile

• Mechanical Trade Qualification (Plant Mechanic).
• Proven experience maintaining heavy mining equipment such as draglines, excavators, and haul trucks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards.
