Maintenance Technician – Automated Warehouse

About the role

Dematic is seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians to support a brand‑new, large‑scale automated warehouse in Tarneit, Melbourne. You will join the project from installation through to operational go‑live, providing high‑level technical support and ensuring system reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and equipment audits on automated storage & retrieval systems, conveyors, racking, and robotics.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical faults, including PLCs, drives, VFDs, HMI panels, contactors, relays, and field devices.
• Lubricate, track belts, replace bearings, chains, belts, motors and gearboxes.
• Program drives, scanners and electronic control modules; conduct root‑cause analysis to reduce downtime.
• Train new technicians and operators as required.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in industrial maintenance and fault diagnosis.
• Unrestricted Victorian A‑Grade Electrical Licence or Mechanical Fitter licence.
• Certificate III in Electrotechnology or Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining).
• Own transportation and a valid Australian driver’s licence.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction.

Required skills

• Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• PLC programming (Siemens S7) and SCADA systems.
• Experience with VFDs, HMI panels, drives and automated material handling equipment.
• Proficiency in reading electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Use of computerised maintenance systems (e.g., MEX) and Microsoft Office.
