Maintenance Technician - Automated Warehouse

About the role

Dematic is looking for experienced Maintenance Technicians with strong industrial experience to join its team at a customer site in Tarneit, Melbourne. The role supports a brand-new, large-scale automated warehouse from initial installation and commissioning through to operational go-live, working on material handling equipment such as automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyors, racking and robotics. Initial hours are day shifts, Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults, including fault finding and replacement of contactors, relays and field devices
• Carry out equipment audits and preventative maintenance, and lubricate, track belts, replace bearings, chains, belts, motors and gearboxes
• Program drives, scanners and electronic control modules, and troubleshoot PLCs
• Reduce downtime and improve system reliability through root cause analysis of faults
• Train new technicians and operators when required

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting equipment faults in a maintenance environment
• Unrestricted Victorian electrical licence (A-grade) or mechanical fitter trade qualification
• Trade qualification: Certificate III in Electrotechnology or Mechanical Trade (fitting/machining)
• Own transport and a current Australian driver's licence
• Commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction

Required skills

• Mechanical savviness with mechanical and pneumatic systems
• Understanding of industrial controls (PLCs, VFDs, HMIs) and ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics
• Highly regarded: PLC experience (training available on Siemens S7 and SCADA), computerised maintenance systems (MEX), automation experience (conveyors and sortation), Microsoft Office and report writing
