Maintenance Handyperson

About the role

The Brisbane Airport Hotels Group, which includes the Pullman, Novotel and ibis Brisbane Airport hotels and the Brisbane Airport Conference Centre, is looking for a full-time Maintenance Handyperson. The group has 532 guest rooms, three restaurants, a rooftop bar and restaurant, an executive lounge and 18 meeting spaces, located next to the domestic terminal. The handyperson assists the maintenance team with day-to-day maintenance needs of the hotels and conference centre.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily rounds, note faulty equipment and carry out maintenance on mechanical equipment and water reticulation
• Keep records of repairs and maintenance, and sign off relevant sections of maintenance manuals after daily rounds
• Liaise with supervisors, managers and contractors so that out-of-order areas are restored quickly and report delays to guests
• Keep the external areas tidy and maintain gym equipment to manufacturer specifications
• Carry out preventative and repair painting where needed

Required profile

• Ability to multitask and work within tight timeframes
• Previous maintenance experience is advantageous
• High standard of DIY skills
• Pride in personal appearance, as the role involves liaising with guests, contractors, owners and management
• Ability to perform the listed physical tasks safely; access to a reliable vehicle is advantageous

Required skills

• Physical tasks: reaching overhead and below the knees, climbing ladders, lifting objects up to 10 kg, gardening such as hedge trimming and tree removal
• Ability to work in small spaces, such as under kitchen equipment or benches
