Maintenance Fitter

About the role

The Maintenance Fitter will support the safe and efficient operation of Mapei's Brisbane plant, performing planned and predictive maintenance on machinery and plant equipment. Working the afternoon shift (2:30 pm‑10:00 pm) and reporting to the Production & Maintenance Manager, the role involves troubleshooting, repairs, and supporting production as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Perform delegated planned and predictive maintenance tasks.
• Analyse and diagnose system and machine issues.
• Carry out assigned maintenance repairs and mechanical work such as drilling and tapping.
• Complete associated maintenance administration and documentation.
• Plan and execute special projects and improvement initiatives.
• Assist production with plant operation and raw material handling according to work instructions.
• Liaise with other departments to ensure tasks are performed safely.
• Work occasional after‑hours, including Saturdays, public holidays, or extended shift times.

Required profile

• Relevant training or qualifications in metal trades, fitting, machining or an engineering‑related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with FMCG‑type machinery.
• Team‑leader or supervisory experience is highly regarded.
• Familiarity with industrial settings and the ability to safely operate electrical and pneumatically controlled equipment.
• Willingness to work occasional overtime or shift extensions.
