Machinist (Temp to Perm) - Wangara Workshop

About the role

An established industrial business specialising in machining, manufacturing and engineering operates a workshop in Wangara and is hiring an experienced Machinist. The position suits a trade-qualified Fitter and Turner or Machinist with experience on both manual and CNC machinery. It offers a Monday to Friday roster, an ASAP start and temporary employment with a view to permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Machine, modify and repair components to production specifications, quality standards and safety requirements
• Operate manual lathes, vertical boring machines, CNC turning and milling machines
• Program, edit and operate CNC machinery
• Select tooling, speeds, feeds and work-holding equipment
• Use precision measuring equipment to check components against quality standards
• Maintain production records, timesheets and quality documentation
• Improve machining processes and productivity, and keep the workplace clean, organised and safe
• Follow company quality, health, safety and environmental procedures

Required profile

• Trade qualification as a Fitter and Turner, Machinist or equivalent
• Experience with manual and CNC machining equipment
• Current driver's licence and ability to provide a clean National Police Check
• Previous manufacturing or workshop experience desirable

Required skills

• Precision measuring equipment
• Desirable: knowledge of Fanuc, Okuma and Siemens programming systems, a current dogging licence and CNC programming and editing experience

The advertised rate is $50-$55 per hour; the listing also states $46 per hour plus superannuation (base and penalties).
