Low Code Software Engineer (OutSystems)

About the role

A major privatised government organisation in Sydney is looking for a proactive Software Developer to join its digital delivery team. The team uses the OutSystems enterprise low-code platform, and the employer values core software engineering principles and a willingness to learn above all. Candidates with hands-on OutSystems experience or a background in traditional full-stack engineering (C#.NET, Java, SQL or modern JavaScript frameworks) are welcome.

Key responsibilities

• Build, configure and maintain robust web and mobile applications using the OutSystems platform.
• Integrate front-end and back-end services with existing enterprise systems, REST/SOAP APIs and SQL databases.
• Work with solution architects, business analysts and testers to turn business requirements into clean, scalable technical solutions.
• Take part in Agile ceremonies, code and architecture reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Rapidly learn and apply OutSystems best practices, supported by structured mentorship from senior team members.

Required profile

• Practical experience building web applications with an object-oriented or modern language such as C#/.NET, Java or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Solid understanding of relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle or PostgreSQL) and of building and consuming RESTful web services.
• High curiosity, adaptability and enthusiasm to learn and master OutSystems; formal certifications or training support is offered.
• Excellent communication skills, able to bridge technical detail and business outcomes in a hybrid enterprise setting.
• Prior exposure to OutSystems, Mendix, Power Platform or similar low-code platforms is highly regarded but not required.
