Longwall Mechanical Production Fitter

About the role

The Longwall Mechanical Production Fitter will join the underground production team at Moranbah North Mine, maintaining critical longwall equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation. You will work closely with production, electrical and maintenance personnel to diagnose faults, perform planned maintenance and respond to breakdowns.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on longwall equipment such as shearers, AFCs, BSLs and powered roof supports.
• Inspect, maintain and repair hydraulic and mechanical systems, diagnosing faults to minimise production delays.
• Support longwall production by completing equipment inspections, component change‑outs and assisting with longwall moves.
• Follow isolation, stored‑energy and underground risk‑control procedures and accurately complete work orders and maintenance records.

Required profile

• Australian recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification and current driver’s licence.
• Experience working in an underground coal mine, preferably with longwall mechanical maintenance.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and troubleshooting skills, with knowledge of isolation and stored‑energy controls.
• High safety awareness and ability to work effectively within a production‑focused team.

Required skills

• Maintenance of shearers, AFCs, BSLs and powered roof supports.
• Hydraulic system servicing and fault‑finding.
• Mechanical troubleshooting and repair of longwall equipment.
• Understanding of isolation and stored‑energy procedures.
