Locum General Sonographer - Tweed Valley Hospital

About the role

A busy hospital ultrasound service in Tweed Valley Hospital, northern NSW, is looking for a locum general sonographer for a placement from 4 to 29 January. The role covers a varied acute caseload across Emergency, inpatient and antenatal services, with the support of an established team of six sonographers. The roster is 8:00am-4:00pm or 10:00am-6:00pm, with possible public holiday and on-call work.

Key responsibilities

• Scan a broad acute caseload including abdominal pain, renal, gallbladder, liver, female pelvis, ectopic pregnancy and torsion presentations.
• Support inpatients, Emergency, antenatal clinic and potentially fracture clinic patients.
• Use a dedicated room for acute patients who need to stay in bed, and occasionally scan ICU patients portably.
• Operate three Philips EPIQ ultrasound systems.

Required profile

• Current ASAR registration.
• Strong general ultrasound experience and confidence managing acute ED presentations.
• Ability to work independently in a hospital setting.
• Full availability for the January placement and comfort with on-call work.
