Locum Dental Hygienist - 2 Days Per Week

About the role

An established dental provider in Belconnen, Canberra, is looking for a confident and experienced locum dental hygienist to work about 2 days per week initially. The role suits people who want flexibility, such as those balancing other clinical commitments. Working arrangements are Tuesday and Wednesday (preferred), Tuesday and Thursday, or Wednesday and Thursday.

The hygienist works independently without a dedicated dental assistant, so organisation and comfort managing your own clinical workflow are important.

Key responsibilities

• Perform scaling, polishing and periodontal maintenance treatments
• Carry out oral health assessments and provide preventive care
• Give personalised oral hygiene advice and patient education
• Provide fluoride treatments where clinically appropriate
• Manage treatment room preparation, sterilisation and turnaround
• Maintain accurate clinical records and infection control standards

Required profile

• Current AHPRA registration as a dental hygienist
• Previous experience in a clinical dental environment
• Ability to work independently without chairside assistance
• Time management and organisational skills
• Strong communication and patient-care abilities
• Availability for about 2 days per week
